Men's Ice Hockey Tops Curry, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team topped Curry, 3-1, on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

Endicott opened the scoring through Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.) who scored his first goal of the season with just over three minutes remaining in the first period, to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead.

The two teams traded chances throughout the majority of the second period, but nobody could find the back of the net until Austin Whelan (Richmond Hill, ON) tied the game up at one with just 24 seconds on the clock. 

In the third frame, Noah Strawn (Wareham, Mass.) cashed in on a bouncing puck in front to give Endicott a 2-1 lead with just over three minutes left in regulation. Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) then added the insurance goal for The Gulls capitalizing on the empty net to make it 3-1. 

In net, Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) made 33 saves, eleven in each period, to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • The Gulls received points from nine different skaters in the win. 
  • Endicott now improves to 9-3-0 all-time vs. Curry
  • The Blue and Green have now won nine in a row at home.
  • Even though tonight's game did not count towards conference record, tonight marks Endicott's 17th win in a row against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (2-0-0) and Curry (3-1-0) will play the second leg of their home and home series tomorrow at Canton Ice House with puck drop scheduled for 2:50 PM.
