NCAA TOURNAMENT: Endicott Finishes 33rd at NCAA DIII Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Endicott golf team finished 33rd at the 2022 NCAA DIII Championship at the Mission Inn Resort & Club. The 33rd place finish as a team ties for the second-best finish in program history for the Gulls, in the program's fourth NCAA DIII Championship appearance.

The Gulls were led by freshman Brady Burke (Bedford, N.H.), who charged up the leader board on day two to finish tied for 80th in the 222-man field. Burke fired an even-par 72 on day two on the 6,748 yard El Campeon course, posting a two-day total of 156 to lead the Gulls.

Sophomore Tyler Baker (Falmouth, Maine) finished second on the team, and tied for 133rd in the tournament after two days of play, posting a team-best 79 on the par 71, 6,792 yard Las Colinas on day one. Baker finished +18 for the Championship with a two-day total of 161.

Nicholas Grimbilas (Stafford, N.H.) finished just four strokes back, shooting a two-day total of 165, after opening with a round of 83 before closing with an 82, to finish tied for 160th. 

Frank Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) and Kyle Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott, finishing the Championship with totals of 167 and 169, respectively.

BEYOND THE SCORECARD

  • The 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title for the Gulls was the eighth in program history, and fourth since the conference awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Championship, which began in 2013-14.
  • The all-time best finish for the Gulls at the NCAA DIII Championship was in 2014 when the Gulls finished 31st of 41 teams.

WHAT'S NEXT

The remaining 18 teams that qualified for the cut will advance to the final two days of the tournament. Endicott sees its 2021-22 season come to a close.
