Leary Adds ECAC Award to Weekly Honors

Leary Adds ECAC Award to Weekly Honors

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Endicott sophomore defender Meghan Leary (Hampton Falls, N.H.) has added a second award to her honors this week, as Tuesday she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Leary had an impressive week in the back for the Gulls, who allowed just one goal in two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) wins. The Gulls began the week with a 3-1 victory at Western New England and then shut out Gordon 3-0 last Saturday, improving their conference record to 6-0.

Leary was critical in cutting out passes in midfield, stepping up to make sure the ball stayed in the Endicott attacking zone and limiting scoring chances for the Gull's opponents.

The sophomore is the second Gulls this year to be honored by the ECAC, joining goalkeeper Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.), who also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors this year.

The Gulls (10-3) are on the road this evening, facing a conference test against University of New England at 6:00 pm. Endicott defeated the Nor'easters by a 3-1 score earlier this season at North Field.
