Hiser Resigns as Endicott Athletic Director

Jan. 10, 2008

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College Director of Athletics Larry Hiser has announced his resignation effective January 31, 2008 to assume the Athletic Director position at Marietta College. Hiser has worked for Endicott for the past 14 years, 12 as the Athletic Director.

With over a decade of sports administration experience, Hiser has helped build Endicott into one of the most respected athletic departments in New England. Under his leadership the Gulls have captured 40 conference championships and appeared in postseason play 55 times.

As Athletic Director, Hiser was in charge of 18 varsity sports split evenly between men and women. During his tenure at Endicott, Hiser helped launch several successful programs including football, equestrian, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's volleyball, while aiding in the design of the some of the finest athletic facilities in New England.

In addition to his Athletic Director responsibilities, Hiser also served as Endicott's first and only baseball coach, a post he has held since 1994. In 13 seasons at the helm of the baseball program, Hiser accumulated a 263-216 record that includes four Commonwealth Coast Conference titles (2000, 2003, 2004, 2006), a GNAC championship (1997), and an ECAC title in 2005. Two of Hiser's former players played professional baseball, while one was selected in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft.

Hiser earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ohio Northern University in 1987, where he was an all-conference shortstop on the Polar Bears' baseball team. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Springfield College, where he was a graduate assistant.

Hiser will leave Endicott to return to Ohio, as he has accepted the Director of Athletics and Recreation position at NCAA Division III Marietta College. Hiser will return to his former conference (Ohio Athletic Conference) to lead the Pioneer's athletic programs; however he will not continue his baseball coaching duties. Marietta College sponsors 18 varsity sports (nine men, nine women) and is located in Marietta, Ohio.
