CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Women's Soccer Bests Western New England, 1-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The third-seeded Endicott women's soccer team took down first-seeded Western New England, 1-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Suprenant Field.

The game-winner and lone goal of the afternoon came in the 23rd minute as Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.) beat a converging Western New England defense near the right post and snuck a shot into the back of the net via a long through ball from Callie Neils (Brentwood, N.H.).

The Gulls were able to successfully play a defensive-minded game from that moment on, denying any true scoring chances from the Golden Bears.

Michelle Donahue (Melrose, Mass.), Carly Matthews (Suffield, Conn.), Angelina Venditti (East Lyme, Conn.), and Neils each played a lockdown defensive 90 minutes, as they held Western New England to just one shot on goal in the entire match (83rd minute).

Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) improved to 13-4-4 on the season in the victory (one save).
