Women's Soccer Draws Against Crosstown Rival Gordon, 1-1

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's soccer team drew a 1-1 tie versus crosstown rival Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon at Brigham Complex.

After falling to a 1-0 deficit early in the second half, Ella Morgan (Salem, Mass.) was able to nail a free kick from just outside the 18 to knot the score in the 66th minute. Morgan played a beautiful ball that soared into the upper left 90 from the top right side of the box. The free kick was set up thanks to some fancy footwork from Alexandria Dostie (Essex Junction, Vt.) that led to a Gordon foul.

The Gulls made a nice effort to take a lead in the game after Morgan's goal, as they controlled possession throughout the second half and finished the game outshooting the Fighting Scots 13-5. However, Gordon goalkeeper Emily Bengston (Anthem, Ariz.) and the Scots defense thwarted all other opportunities for the Blue and Green.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls lead the all-time series against the Scots with a commanding record of 24-10-6.
  • Morgan is tied for fifth in scoring in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) with five goals on the season.
  • Endicott has allowed one goal or fewer in 12 of its 14 games this season.
  • Gordon was only able to muster two shots on goal against the Gulls' backline, as opposed to Endicott's seven in the match.
