Endicott Falls to WIT 3-2 on Senior Day

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team fell to Wentworth 3-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday to fall to 8-4-5 overall and 2-2-4 in CCC play.

Before the match, the Gulls honored the careers of six seniors; Bella Boccasile (Suffield, Conn.)Olivia Johnson (Whitman, Mass.)Julia Matus (East Greenwich, R.I.)Lindsey Papa (Tolland, Conn.)Jacqueline Ruggiero (Dedham, Mass.), and Madison Webster (Middletown, Conn.).

The visitors were able to post three quick goals to go up 3-0 just 11:30 into the first half before Endicott started to counter. 

Matus cut the lead to two in the 25th minute when she ran onto a Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.) through ball and beat the keeper for her fifth goal of the season.

Matus would strike again on a penalty kick in the second half to cut the lead to 3-2 at the 62:10 mark. Endicott's comeback efforts would end there as the Gulls couldn't pull any closer, falling by the 3-2 final.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Matus has now set career-highs in goals (6) and points (14), as she leads the team in both.
  • The assist was Rischitelli's second of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (8-4-5, 2-2-4 CCC) travels to Biddeford, Maine on Tuesday night to take on UNE in the regular season finale, while Wentworth (8-6-2, 3-4-1 CCC) travels to Western New England in its regular season finale as well.
