Endicott Kicks Off Homecoming Weekend with 2-1 Victory Over WNE

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team kicked off Homecoming Weekend for the Blue and Green in style with a 2-1 over Western New England on Friday evening at Hempstead Stadium.. The victory improves Endicott to 6-2-3 overall and 1-0-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, while Western New England falls to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in CCC play.

The Gulls would strike first, midway through the opening half. Following a Western New England foul, Ella Morgan (Salem, Mass.) netted a free kick from 20 yards out at the 27:51 mark of the match to put the Gulls in front 1-0. The tally was her second of the season. 

Morgan Hubert (Southington, Conn.) doubled the Endicott lead at the 51:43 mark, finding the inside of the left post off her shot that traveled across the goal. Hubert's goal was assisted by Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.), who earned her sixth point and second assist this season.

The Golden Bears cut the lead in half with a goal in the 56th minute but, Endicott stayed resilient during the physical battle that saw 22 fouls and claimed their first CCC triumph this fall (1-0-2).

Keeper Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) made one save in her first victory between the posts this season for the Gulls (1-0-1).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 15-5-2 all-time against Western New England.
  • The Gulls are now 5-0-1 when scoring two or more goals in a match in 2022.
  • Morgan tallied her second goal this fall, her first career goal at Hempstead Stadium.
  • Morgan and Hubert are now tied with Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.) for third on the team in points, with five.

Endicott (6-2-3) hosts Salem St. on Tuesday, October 4 at 4:00 PM. WNE (5-4-1) returns home to play Westfield St. on Wednesday, October 5 at 4:00 PM.
