Endicott and Wheaton Play to 2-2 Tie

NORTON, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team took to the road for a non-conference match against Wheaton (Mass.) on Tuesday afternoon and the two teams played to a 2-2 tie. The Gulls and Lyons played a scoreless first half before posting two goals each in the final 45 minutes of play. Endicott's record now moves to 5-2-3 (0-0-2 CCC), while Wheaton is now 4-4-1 (1-1-0 NEWMAC).

After a scoreless opening frame that saw the two teams combine for fifteen shots, including eight shots on goal, the Lyons opened the scoring in the opening minute of the second half, scoring at the 45:49 mark. Endicott was quick to counter, scoring just 12 seconds later when Alexandria Dostie (Essex Junction, Vt.) scored her second goal of the season. Her quick counter came off a through ball into the box that she was able to shoot inside the near post to even the score at 1-1.

Ten minutes later, Wheaton would pull ahead again, scoring in the 61st minute for the 2-1 edge. That score would stand until the final five minutes of play when the Gulls evened the score at 2-2 off the foot of Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.), as the sophomore also scored her second of the season. Rischitelli's equalizer was assisted by Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.), her first of the season.

  • Endicott's Jacqueline Ruggiero (Dedham, Mass.) stared in net for the Gulls, posting five saves in the first half, while Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) came on for the second half, and made five saves on seven shots.
  • Dostie and Rischitelli finished with three shots each in the match.
