No. 21 Endicott Battles Cross-Town Rival Gordon to 0-0 Draw

Endicott and Gordon battled to a scoreless draw.

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team played host to rival Gordon on Saturday in the 39th meeting in the series between the two programs, and the two teams battled to a scoreless draw. The tie moves Endicott's record to 5-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, while Gordon moves to 3-1-2, and 0-0-1 in CCC play. 

The opening half saw Endicott hold a slim 3-2 advantage in shots, including a 2-1 edge in shots on goal, and a 2-1 advantage in corners. 

In the second half, Endicott would up the pressure, out-shooting the Fighting Scots 5-2 in the final 45 minutes, all while earning four corners to none for the visitors, but none of the opportunities would find the back of the net, as the match ended in the scoreless tie.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The tie represents just the fifth in the series and the first since 2019, a match that eventually saw Endicott advance through penalty kicks.
  • The physical battle saw the two teams combine for 21 fouls (11 Gordon, 10 Endicott).
  • Endicott keeper Jacqueline Ruggiero (Dedham, Mass.) made one save in her fourth shutout of the season.
  • Alexandria Dostie (Essex Junction, Vt.) led all student-athletes with three shots in the match.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls (5-1-1, 0-0-1 CCC) play host to Babson on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM, while Gordon (3-1-2, 0-0-1 CCC) travels to fellow north shore foe Salem St. on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
