Couchot's Overtime Tally Sends Endicott to the CCC Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. – Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) tallied his 11th goal of the season to lift the Endicott men's soccer team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Wentworth during the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinal round on Tuesday night in Hempstead Stadium.

At the 90:50 mark, Robert Hartan (Hebron, Conn.) headed the ball ahead to Couchot, who then one-timed it on net. Wentworth netminder Philip Chomicki (Dorchester, Mass.) got a touch on the ball but was unable to make the save.

The Gulls and the Leopards played to a 1-1 tie in regulation to force the extra period. Diego Maillo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) found the back of the net for Endicott, just under 10 minutes into the second frame, while Noah Martins (Dartmouth, Mass.) tallied the lone Wentworth goal at the 73:41 mark.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Will Manuel (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) got the start in net and made four saves before being relieved by Camden Stockdale (Durham, Conn.). Stockdale recorded three saves and improved his record to 2-1-0 on the season.
  • Endicott held a 23-14 shot advantage throughout the contest.
  • The Gulls recorded six corners, while the Leopards had one. 
  • E. Couchot paced the offense with nine shots, while Maillo was close behind with five.
  • E. Couchot also added an assist on Maillo's goal.
  • Endicott has now advanced to the CCC championship game in two of the last three seasons. 

FOR THE FOES

  • Chomicki shifted to 7-2-2 on the season and made four saves.
  • Emmett Basaca (San Diego, Calif.) and Joe Kalil (Franklin, Mass.) led the offense with three shots each. 
  • Basaca assisted on Wentworth's tally. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (12-4-3, 6-1-2 CCC) moves onto the CCC championship and will face No. 2 seed Gordon in Hempstead Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 4. Wentworth (10-8-2, 5-2-2 CCC) concludes their season with the loss.
