BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team defeated Wentworth, 2-1, on Wednesday night in Hempstead Stadium. The Gulls were led by a two-goal effort from freshman Jamie Becker (Fairfield, Conn.).
Endicott gained the 1-0 lead at the 23:55 mark when Bobby Ivatts (Walpole, Mass.) brought the ball up the sideline and sent a cross into the middle of the box. Becker settled the pass and shot into the lower right-hand corner of the net.
During the opening minutes of the second half, Wentworth upped the offensive pressure, but Endicott goaltender, Will Manuel (Mount Pleasant, S.C.), made two diving saves to keep the Gulls up by one.
However, the Leopards tied the game up at 1-1 with a tally from Griffin Price (Allendale, N.J.) at 76:36.
With time winding down in regulation, Brendan McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) sent a long free kick towards the net. Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) headed the ball to a waiting Becker, who then bicycle kicked it past the Wentworth goalie for his sixth goal of the season at the 84:18 mark.
