Gulls Defeat Nichols, 5-1, on Senior Night

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team defeated Nichols, 5-1, in Hempstead Stadium on Tuesday evening during Senior Night.

 Senior Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) got the scoring started for the Gulls at the 4:01 mark with a tally off a well placed free kick. 

Five minutes later, at 9:51, Rieley Hoffman (Watertown, N.Y.) netted his first goal of the season with help from Jamie Becker (Fairfield, Conn.)

Freshman Joshua Sousa (Dartmouth, Mass.) made the game 3-0 at 37:57 off a pass from Brandon Haughton (Hartford, Conn.). Minutes later Max Robbins (Longmeadow, Mass.) extended the lead to 4-0 with his first career goal. 

The Bison were able to keep Endicott from earning a shutout when Chris Noga (Belchertown, Mass.) found the back of the net. 

Thomas Martin (Derry, N.H.) added his first goal of the season at the 76:54 mark to secure the 5-1 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Will Manuel (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) got the start in net for the Gulls and improved to 4-1-3 on the year. Jesse Haines (Villanova, Pa.) relieved Manuel in goal for the last 11 minutes of the game.
  • The Gulls held the 30-9 shot advantage. 
  • Endicott recorded five corner opportunities, while Nichols had three. 
  • Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio), Bobby Ivatts (Walpole, Mass.), and Sousa also added assists during the contest.
  • E. Couchot and Haughton paced the offense with four shots each.
  • Before the game, Endicott honored eight seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program. Those seniors were Neukom, Martin, Conner Couchot (Mason, Ohio), Adam Legg (York, Maine), Brendan McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.), Diego Maillo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Robert Hartan (Hebron, Conn.), Tyler Johnson (Carver, Mass.), and Ryan Cohane (Easton, Conn.).

FOR THE FOES

  • Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) shifted to 5-4-1 on the season with the tie with the loss and recorded four saves. Zach Suhoza (Clearwater, Fla.) also made an appearance in net and made one save.
  • Ali Ali (West Springfield, Mass.) added an assist on Noga's goal.
  • Noga led the offense with five shots.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (7-2-3, 3-0-2) hosts Connecticut College on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. Nichols (6-5-2, 2-3-0) plays Gordon on Saturday, October 14 at 11 a.m.
