Men's Soccer Defeats Gordon For The First Time In Program History

WENHAM, Mass.- In Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer action today at Gordon's Brigham Athletic Complex, the Endicott College Gulls captured their first ever win over the Fighting Scots, cruising 5-2 over the host Scots for their first CCC win of the season. The win improves Endicott to 6-5-2 overall, 1-2-1 in conference play.

The Gulls' offense got to work early on as Jordan Daniel (Canton, Conn.) finished a ball from fellow freshman forward Zach Rizzo (Redding, Conn.) in the 10th minute for the 1-0 advantage. That lead grew just five minutes later when Alex Tonsberg (Westport, Conn.) sent home a Daniel assist, after which Daniel got his second of the afternoon on a solo effort to give the Gulls the 3-0 lead at the break.

Showing some signs of life on their own offensive end, David Egeler (Danbury, Conn.) put the Scots on the board with an unassisted effort in the 53rd minute to close the gap to two. Seven minutes later, however, a misplayed ball by the Gordon defense skipped into the back of their own net to hand the three-goal lead back to the Gulls.

And though Alek Duba (Bristol, N.H.) finished off an Andrew Vandervoort (Memphis, Tenn.) corner in the 64th minute, that was as close as Gordon would get as the Gulls' Bobby Durben (Stow, Mass.) added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to secure the victory for Endicott.

Keeper Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.) earned the win in net for the Gulls, turning away six shots in the outing, while Gordon netminder Tim Hardy (Gorham, Maine) recorded five saves but was tagged with the loss.
