NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The No. 6 Endicott men's rugby team fell to No. 5 nationally ranked Norwich (D2 program), 27-12, in the Gulls' season opener on Saturday.
Matthew Bant (Jenkintown, Pa.) and Andrew Coscia (Orange, Conn.) both scored tries, while Kyle Ernest (Severna Park, Md.) went 1-for-2 on his conversion attempts.
Bant was also named the "Player of the Match" as he played with heart, hustle, and a great deal of leadership. Ernest received the "Tackle of the Game" award for a try-saving stop down the left wing.
As for the B's side, the Gulls picked up a 14-12 victory over the Cadets.
Tries came from Ben Lapoint (Acton, Mass.) and Foster Kroon (Longmeadow, Mass.).
Kroon also added a conversion to his stat line as did Owen Swanson (Wilbraham, Mass.).
Ramsey Martinez (Hyde Park, Mass.) claimed B-side "Player of the Match" honors for playing in both games and leaving everything out on the field for the Gulls.
