Four Gulls Receive USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention Nods
BEVERLY, Mass. – Four Endicott men's lacrosse team members have earned USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention accolades.
BEVERLY, Mass. – Four Endicott men's lacrosse team members have earned USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention accolades as announced by the organization.
Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.), Matt Cawley (Westwood, Mass.), Nick DiSalvo (Narragansett, R.I.), and Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) were all honored by the organization.
All four were named All-Conference First Teamers as Fernandez collected Offensive Player of the Year, along with Tournament Most Outstading Player, while DiSalvo earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Barker won over 300 faceoffs this season for the second time in his career and collected 225 ground balls as he set the program record for ground balls with 759 in his career.
The Westwood, Mass. native, Cawley caused 20 turnovers and scooped up 46 ground balls for the Gulls as he was part of a defensive unit that held opponents to under nine goals per game.
Another key member of the defensive unit, DiSalvo set new career highs in both ground balls (50) and caused turnovers (34) while also scoring his first career goal versus Western New England on 4/5.
Fernandez was a catalyst for the offense all season as he finished 11 of the last 12 games of the season with six or more points, including 11 against Gordon on 4/23.
This is the first career All-American honor for Cawley, DiSalvo, and Fernandez.
Barker was also named an Honorable Mention last season by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott finished the season with a 15-4 record while going 8-0 in conference play. The Gulls captured the program's 12th conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 12-11 to No. 17 Amherst in the First Round.
