Quinn, VanAmburgh Compete At U23 Women’s USA All-Star Rugby Tournament

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's rugby student-athletes Kaitlyn Quinn (Salem, N.H.) and Jourdan VanAmburgh (Selkirk, N.Y.) represented the Gulls last week at the U23 Women's USA All-Star Rugby Tournament, as members of the New England Independents. The tournament consisted of eight teams within two tiers of competition.

Game one occurred on June 23, with the Gulls' duo and their teammates taking on the Central South Mustangs. The New England Independents took the match 102-5 when the whistle blew for full-time.

Their victory advanced The Independents into the championship round on June 25 against the Rocky Mountain Squad. New England held the score to a 17-10 deficit at the half, but he Rocky Mountain squad came out of the half ready to play and eventually took the match 72-10.

Despite the loss, Quinn, VanAmburgh, and the New England Independents went out with their heads held high.

"It was amazing witnessing and playing higher-level rugby against competition from all across the country," VanAmburgh said. "We also feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to learn from coaches and players around us, a majority of which have had experience playing at some of the highest levels of rugby."
