NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 8 Endicott Visits No. 1 Middlebury On Saturday (3 PM)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team (19-4-1) will take on No. 1 Middlebury College (24-0-0) in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals this Saturday at 3 PM. Here's a preview of Saturday's road matchup at Chip Kenyon '85 Arena.


TICKETS

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students, $3 for children under 12, and kids two and under are free.

Advanced tickets can be purchased online starting on Wednesday, March 9 at 10 AM, and can be picked up on Saturday in the athletics box office located at the front of the Peterson Family Athletic Complex

Day of sales will start at 2 PM in the same location.


COVID GUIDELINES

Middlebury College still has a mask mandate in place.

Student-athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators either upon arrival or in the hallways need to have masks on. Student-athletes, coaches, and staff may take masks off for practice, games, and/or on the bench.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Panthers have owned the top spot in the USCHO.com national rankings every week since November 29, 2021.
  • Saturday's meeting will be the third between the two programs this season (11/28/21: No. 2 Middlebury vs. No. 9 Endicott, L, 2-1 | 1/8/22: No. 1 Middlebury vs. No. 10 Endicott, L, 2-1 OT).
  • Endicott enters this weekend's NCAA Tournament matchup ranked No. 5 overall in DIII in scoring defense at 1.21 goals allowed per game. Middlebury is No. 1 at 0.67.
  • Probable starters in net for Saturday include the Gulls' Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) and the Panthers' Sophia Merageas (Medfield, Mass.). O'Brien sports a 1.34 goals against average (GAA) this season, while Merageas has a 0.82 GAA.
  • Offensively, Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Mass.) paces Endicott with 23 points (16, 7A) so far on the year, while Madie Ledit (Des Moines, Iowa) leads Middlebury with 29 points (17G, 12A).

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner between No. 8 Endicott and No. 1 Middlebury will play the winner of No. 3 Elmira and No. 6 Nazareth on Friday, March 18 in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals at place and time to be determined later.
