Suffolk Propels Past No. 8 Women's Ice Hockey, 4-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team fell to Suffolk, 4-3, in conference action on Friday night at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Kellie Popkin (Walpole, Mass.), Tabitha Franceschini (Brick, N.J.), and Samantha Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) all found the back of the net in the contest for Endicott. 

The Gulls held a 3-2 advantage over the Rams heading into the third period until Natasha Savage (Warwick, R.I.) knotted the game at three apiece with 9:59 left in the stanza.

From there, Sam Molind (Middleboro, Mass.) scored the eventual game-winning goal with just 4:49 remaining in regulation to help the visitors escape with a crucial road win. 

In goal, Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) stopped 32 shots for the Gulls (6-3-1 overall/14-3-1 career).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Despite the loss, Endicott has only dropped one game in the all-time series against Suffolk (4-1-0).
  • Suffolk extended its winning streak to four straight with tonight's victory.
  • The Rams are 7-1-0 away from home this season.  
  • Fantasia is now tied with Kat Keith (Westwood, Mass.) for fourth place on the team with four goals. 
  • Jacy Kuhlman (Severna Park, Md.)Madison Hentosh (Peabody, Mass.)Morgan Sisson (Concord, N.H), and Quin Healy (Melrose, Mass.) all recorded assists.

No. 8 Endicott (11-4-1, 9-2-1 CCC) hosts Suffolk (14-2-0, 9-1-0 CCC) on Monday, January 31 at 4 PM.
