CCC SEMIFINALS: No. 1 Nichols Outlasts No. 4 Endicott, 5-2

BEVERLY, Mass. – The fourth-seeded Endicott men's tennis team fell to first-seeded Nichols, 5-2, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals on Wednesday evening at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

In doubles, the Gulls erased an early 1-0 deficit by securing victories at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions, in respective order.

Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) / Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) notched an 8-3 win to even the score at 1-1, while Brennan Nick (Tolland, Conn.) / Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) posted an 8-2 triumph to claim the upper hand on scoreboard headed into singles.

In singles, the Bison responded with victories at No. 4, No. 6, No. 3, and No. 2 to advance to punch their ticket to the CCC Championship this Saturday.

"We did our best and I'm proud of our effort today," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Thank you to our parents, alumni, friends, and everyone else for supporting us all season. We'll give it our all again next year."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are only the second conference team this season to produce a lead against Nichols at the conclusion of doubles (Roger Williams, 2-1, 4/8/23).
  • Nichols improved to 7-3 at home this season.
  • The Bison will look to capture their 13th conference title later this week (2nd all-time in the league).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott sees its season come to a close at 9-11 overall. Nichols (12-9) will host the winner of No. 3 Gordon / No. 2 Roger Williams on Saturday (time TBD).
