Endicott suffers 7-2 loss in CCC opener to Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. - The Endicott men's tennis team earned points in #4 and #5 singles thanks to gritty efforts by sophomore Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and senior Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.), but the Gulls lost 7-2 to Eastern Nazarene in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schedule opener.

Cohen took care of his opponent 6-2, 6-4 to cut into the Lions' lead down to 4-1 with all three doubles matches and the top singles flight already fnished in favor of Eastern Nazarene. Forance needed tiebreakers to handle his singles opponent in two sets as he won 7-6 (7-5) and 7-6 (7-1), but by then Eastern Nazarene had taken #2 singles to get the match-clinching fifth point.

Endicott battled in the first and third doubles match ups, falling 8-4 in each flight, but the Gulls quickly fell behind in the match 3-0 heading into singles play.  After Forance's victory at #4 singles, Endicott wrapped up their conference match by watching senior Benjamin Randlett (Middlebury, Vt.) fall in three sets and freshman Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) come up just short 6-4, 7-5 in #6 singles.

The Blue and Green are back on the court tomorrow with a road match at North Shore Cup rival Salem State starting at 3:30 pm at the O'Keefe Center.  This match was originally scheduled to be played at home but was forced to relocated.
