UMass Dartmouth, ranked 10th in New England, defeated Endicott yesterday, 4-1, in a non-conference match up in North Dartmouth, MA. Endicott held their own in the first half keeping the score at 1-1, but were overpowered in the second as UMass added 3 more goals to their total. The loss drops Endicott's record to 8-7-1. With just 2 CCC games remaining before the start of conference playoffs, the Gulls will need wins to increase their chance of hosting a first round playoff game.
Endicott attacked well in the first half holding a 4-1 shot advantage over UMass. However, UMass opened the scoring at the 18:37 mark when Jayr Fernandes, sent a shot past goalkeeper Colin Kemble. EC evened the score on a penalty kick by senior Josh Lewis at 30:35.
UMass came out firing in the second half sending Endicott on the defensive. At 49:05, UMass scored the game winner on a quick shot by Andrew Ventura. Tiago Pinto and William Jaquith added two more goals for UMass at the 63:37 and the 76:04 marks respectively.
Kemble recorded 5 saves in the loss, while UMass keeper Kyle Fossey collected 2 saves in the win.
EC faces conference leader Salve Regina on Saturday at 4pm on Endicott's Homecoming Weekend.
