The past two games the Gulls have out shot their opponents, but in the end, been unable to take home a win. In the midst of a 2 game losing streak, since being ranked 9th in New England, the Gulls had no problem finding the back of the net yesterday. The Endicott men's soccer team beat conference rival Nichols College 4-1 in regulation. The win moves EC to 6-3-1 overall, 4-1-1 in conference play.
With a slow start for Endicott, Nichols took advantage of their opportunities. At the 18:26 mark of the half, a loose ball in the EC box was pushed by EC goalkeeper Braden Monaco and gave Nichols a 1-0 lead. Freshman Eitan Bendesky, anchoring the EC defense, helped to maintain the one goal deficit for the rest of the half.
In the second half, it was freshman Elias Carrero who broke into the points first for the Gulls. Senior Pete Mendel sent a cross to the middle of the Nichols box and Carrero knocked it home. Only 20 seconds later, at 68:53, Eitan Bendesky broke the tie. After a short pass from Mendel, Bendesky let loose a 40-yard shot, which flew over the Nichol's goalkeeper and into the net. The score would remain 2-1 in favor of EC until senior Josh Lewis was hit with a monster punt from then goalkeeper Cameron Twiss and pushed the ball into the side netting, giving EC the 3-1 edge. Finally EC would end the scoring at the 89:00 mark when senior Cody Barbierri laid off a pass to Carrero. Carrero collected the ball and scorched it past the goalkeeper.
The EC Men continue conference play on Wednesday at 4pm versus New England College.
