EC Gives Gordon All They Can Handle

EC Gives Gordon All They Can Handle

Oct. 14, 2004

The Endicott Gulls (7-6-1, 5-3-1 CCC) played one of their best games of the season yesterday but, in the end, fell to a strong Gordon College team, 1-0. EC, who has never beaten Gordon College, gave the Fighting Scots (9-5, 6-1) a good scare in Wenham, MA.

Playing evenly throughout much of the first half, the Scots' Chris Neffinger capitalized on an opportunity with 13 minutes remaining, ripping what proved to be the game-winner past keeper Colin Kemble to put Gordon on the boards, 1-0. Freshmen Brandon Jones and Eitan Bendesky anchored EC's defense, while freshman Elias Carrero and junior Daniel Duvernoy took care of the midfield duties.

Gordon maintained their edge in the second half limiting the Gulls to just two shots. EC's first shot of the second half almost tied the game as senior Ryan Vigilant sent a head-ball to the corner of the net. Gordon keeper Peter Hassler made a fantastic save, however, to keep the Scots on top.

Men's soccer continues play on Sunday when they face non-conference opponent St. Joseph's (ME) at home on the stadium.
