Men’s Basketball Turns Away Salve Regina, 83-70

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott men's basketball team used a 32-6 run over the span of 12:54 in the first half of action to run away with an eventual 83-70 conference victory against Salve Regina University on Tuesday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Newly minted Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) spearheaded the offensive spurt for the Gulls with 10 points, while Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) compiled eight points. Vinny Clifford (Danvers, Mass.) also added five points during the run. The trio finished with 17 points, 10 points, and 10 points, respectively, in the contest.

Meanwhile, Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) paced the Gulls with a team-high 18 points (7-9 FG, 4-7 FT).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 22-14 all-time against Salve Regina (dating back to 12/13/1994).
  • The Gulls have won the last four contests, and have outscored the Seahawks 354-244 total in those meetings.
  • Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

FOR THE FOES

  • Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 26 points (11-28 FG, 1-11 3PT, 3-5 FT).
  • Kevin Kelly (Valhalla, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds.
  • Isaiah Bowman (Roxbury, Mass.) and Thor Brochu (North Kingstown, R.I.) had nine points each.

Endicott (11-4, 6-2 CCC) travels to Eastern Nazarene on Thursday, January 18 for a conference matchup at 6:30 PM. Salve Regina (6-10, 3-6 CCC) hosts Wentworth on Saturday, January 20 at 3 PM.
