Endicott Falls To Nichols In CCC Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team traveled to Nichols for their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest of the season and were handed a 105-82 loss.

DeAnte Bruton (New London, Conn.) led the Bison in points with 30 (12-18 FG, 4-8 3PT, 2-2 FT) and also recorded six rebounds and five assists. Daequon Antoine (Fort Mill, S.C.) went 5-for-8 beyond the arc and tallied a total of 22 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, for Endicott, sophomore guard Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) recorded a team-high 13 points, while Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) and Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) were close behind with 12 points. Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) had seven assists and nine points on the night. Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team in rebounds with eight (seven defensive). 

The first ten minutes of play saw many ties and lead changes between the two teams, but the Bison went on to a 21-0 run over a span of four minutes to take a 64-35 lead heading into halftime. Nichols went 10-for-18 from beyond the arc and had a 66.7 field goal percentage in the first half. 

The Gulls hit three three-pointers, two of which came from Shehadi, to open the second half, but Nichols continued to build their lead and went on to a 105-82 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Bison outscored Endicott, 38-22, in the paint.
  • Nichols also held a 10-7 advantage on second-chance opportunities.
  • The Gulls bench outscored Nichols 28-10.
  • Nichols held the 38-28 rebound advantage over Endicott.

Endicott (2-2, 0-1 CCC) hosts Curry on Saturday, December 2 at 3 PM. Nichols (4-1, 1-0 CCC) plays Gordon on Saturday, December 2 at 3 PM.
