Colby Clips Endicott, 94-84

SALEM, Mass. — In its first game back from winter break, the Endicott men's basketball team fell to Colby College, 94-84, in the Salem State Holiday Tournament at Twohig Gymnasium.

Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) paced the Gulls offensively with a team-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) added a career-high 17 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3PT, 4-6 FT), while Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed 12 points, six assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

The Gulls led late in the contest, 73-72 with 7:31 remaining in the second half, but a 14-2 run over the next 4:25 of action by Colby spelled the difference for Endicott in the end. 

Sam Jefferson (Newton, Mass.) fueled the spurt with five points, while Pat Dickert (Hatfield, Mass.) had four and Wallace Tucker (Atlanta, Ga.) and Sean Gilmore (San Francisco, Calif.) each chipped in with two points apiece.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Colby's 11-point lead with 3:06 remaining was the largest of the contest for the Mules.
  • Colby also rattled off 11 straight unanswered points (7:31-5:21, 83-73 lead) during its 14-2 run in the second half.
  • Tonight's game featured 12 tied scores and 17 lead changes (Colby led for 20:55, Endicott led for 14:21, game was tied for 4:44).
  • Endicott's largest lead of the game came at 5:43 of the first half (11 points, 37-26).

FOR THE FOES

  • Jefferson finished with a game-high 23 points on 7-for-15 shooting (5-11 3PT, 4-4 FT) alongside seven rebounds and one assist.
  • Matt Hanna (Milford, Mass.) poured in 20 points, while Gilmore collected 14 and Dickert had 10.
  • Dean Weiner (Tenafly, N.J.) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Mules with 10 points.
  • Colby out rebounded Endicott, 51-30, and outscored the Gulls, 46-34, in the point.
  • The Mules also held a 20-10 differential in second chance points.

Endicott (6-3) wraps up the Salem State Holiday Tournament tomorrow against Clark University at 5 PM. Colby (7-2) plays Salem State tomorrow at 7 PM.
