CCC Awards Player of the Week to Endicott's John Henault

CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior guard John Henault (Lunenburg, Mass.) collected his first-ever CCC Player of the Week award as he led the Gulls to a 3-0 record against conference opponents Salve Regina, Roger Williams, and Curry. Henault averaged 19.0 points per game for an Endicott men's basketball team that continued to improve upon their league-best 11-2 (5-1 CCC) record.

Henault shot 53% from the floor, 62% from three-point range, and a perfect 100% at the free throw line in Endicott's three wins. Along with his 19.0 points per game, Henault averaged 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.0 steals.

Endicott's only home game of the week, an 87-76 win over Salve Regina, Henault put up a season-high 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting including 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. Nineteen of his points came in the second half and his six three-pointers tied a career-high.  Two days later in Bristol, Rhode Island, Henault again led the team with 16 points as the Gulls used an efficient offensive attack to beat the Hawks 91-76.

Although he was not the team's leading scorer over the weekend at Curry, Henault was an impactful part of Endicott's battle to beat the defending CCC champion Colonels. The Gulls gave up a second half lead late in the game, but Henault tied it up at 77-77 which set up an impressive finish by freshman guard Max Motroni (West Warwick, R.I.) who won the game Endicott. Henault finished with 15 points, four boards, three assists, and a block.

On the season, Henault leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game and with 214 points thus far he is just 21 away from 1,000 for his career. Henault will join teammate Lachlan Magee (Melbourne, Australia), who reached the milestone earlier this season, as the 11th member of the Endicott men's basketball 1,000-point club.

The Gulls take on Nichols (8-4, 5-1 CCC) at home on Wednesday, January 15th at 5:30 pm as conference plays continues.
