No. 3 Tufts Slips Past No. 20 Endicott

MEDFORD, Mass. —  No. 20 nationally ranked Endicott fell to No. 3 nationally ranked Tufts University, 2-1, in a hard-fought contest on Thursday night at Ounjian Field.

Tied 1-1 late in the fourth quarter the Jumbos' midfielder Gillian Roeca (Baltimore, Md.) put the ball in the back of the net during a goal-mouth scramble with just 1:12 left in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the lone goal scorer for Endicott was senior Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) who registered her third goal of the season at the 3:20 mark in the first quarter.

Junior goalie Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) also highlighted the Gull's efforts with a game-high eight saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Farrin's eight saves were a season-high
  • Alexis Chauvette (Shaker Heights, Ohio) tied the game up at one for Tufts with her first goal of the season, at the 10:08 mark of the fourth quarter.
  • Both teams are both ranked in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division III National Coaches Poll.

 WHAT'S NEXT

No. 20 nationally ranked Endicott (3-1) will host Bates on Sunday, September 15 at 1 PM. No. 3 nationally ranked Tufts (2-0) will host No. 14 nationally ranked Rochester (N.Y.) on Sunday, September 15 at 12 PM.
