D3 WEEK: Endicott Athletics Pitches In To Help Fight COVID-19

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott Athletics department has pitched in throughout all areas of the department to support those in need during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Here are some of our most recent efforts to help our surrounding communities.

The Endicott men's and women's lacrosse programs helped raise around $92,000 in conjunction with the HEADstrong foundation's "One Last Shift Campaign". The One Last Shift Campaign, which took place on Monday, April 6 raised money for cancer patients who are at the highest risk of complications due to COVID-19.

Members of the two programs participated in a virtual 5k race, broadcasting their run via social media.

Endicott Athletic Training also pitched in and donated gloves, masks, and gowns to local hospitals for the workers on the front line fighting the Pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Raymond J. Bourque Arena staff donated over 400 pounds of food and drinks to Haven for Hunger. The food and drinks were originally set to be used for the Men's Ice Hockey NCAA Tournament First Round contest before the cancelation of all NCAA sports took place.

Items included pretzels, bagels, cookies, chips, water, and soft drinks.

"While it stings for both our hockey programs to not be able to complete the fantastic seasons they had put together, it was a no-brainer for us to help the North Shore community in this time of need," said Raymond J. Bourque Arena Director of Operations Jay Lilly.

Alongside those efforts, the athletics department donated several hundred ponchos to Beverly Hospital to help cover PPE gear so it could be reused.
