Final Stats

BEVERLY, MA - Mike Baklik (Killingworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) picked up his team-high fifth interception of the season on Saturday, as Endicott rolled over Salve Regina, 40-7.

The Seahawks, who used a three man platoon at quarterback, were picked off five times by the Gulls. Pego Jean-Paul (Deltona, FL/Stamford, CT) had two picks, while Orlando Johnson (Newport, RI/Rogers) and Michael Angoff (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) each had an interception of their own.

After solid defensive stands by both teams for much of the beginning of the game, freshman kicker Chris Brennan (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow) finally put the Gulls on the board with a 35-yard field goal as time expired in the first quarter.

The Gulls next score came after Angoff intercepted the ball at the Seahawks five-yard-line. Angelo Ortiz (Mashantucket, CT/St. Thomas More) scored on a five yards run to put the Gulls on top 10-0. Endicott struck again 3:31 later, this time on an eight yard run by Mark Killinger (Rockland, MA/Rockland), who had eight carries for 40 yards and two touchdowns. Brennan's PAT was blocked making the score 16-0 in favor of EC.

Baklik put the Gull's up 23-0 when he intercepted Gregory Karsner's (Raynham, MA/Raynham) pass with 5:08 remaining in the half and took it all the way to the end zone for a 52-yard touchdown.

On the Seahawks next possession, Jean-Paul made his second interception of the game, resulting in a 31 yard field goal kick by Brennan.

When Salve Regina did manage to get some momentum going, Robert Higle's (Sleepy Hollow, NY/Sleepy Hollow) pass was intercepted at Endicott's 32-yard-line by Johnson with ten seconds remaining in the half. After two quarters of play, the Gulls held a commanding 26-0 lead.

Endicott recovered a fumble at Salve Regina's four-yard-line to open up the second half and just two plays later, Killinger plunged into the end zone for his second touchdown of the day, making the score 33-0. After the Seahawks went three-and-out on their next drive, Johnson returned Carl Frye's (Portland, ME/Portland) punt 60 yards for a touchdown to put his squad up 40-0.

The Seahawks finally got on the board when Jeff St. Onge (Kingston, NH/Kingston) hit Gary Galvao (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) in the end zone from four yards out. Andrew Monaco (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) tacked on the extra point, making the score 40-7.

The Gulls went three-and-out on their next drive and after the Seahawks failed to convert on fourth down, freshman quarterback Tyler Connelly (North Grafton, MA/Cushing Academy) took a knee which ended the game.

Sophomore quarterback Vinny Orlando (Manchester, MA/Manchester-Essex) was 6-of-13 for 79 yards and ran the ball three times for 20 yards. In his first game back since sustaining a leg injury, all-conference senior running back Gerard Festa (Revere, MA/St. Mary's (Lynn), who ran for 1,133 yards (5.9 avg.) and nine touchdowns last year, carried the ball three times for six yards. The Gulls who led the country with 30 interceptions last year, have 11 picks this season through four games.
