BUZZARDS BAY, MA - Endicott College held Mass. Maritime to just one net rushing yard from scrimmage as the Gulls broke in to the win column with a 34-0 shutout of the Buccaneers Saturday afternoon at Buzzards Bay.

After suffering non-conference losses to Hartwick and RPI, the Gulls improved to 1-3 overall while Mass. Maritime fell to 1-1.

Quarterback Vinny Orlando opened the scoring on an 11-yard run putting Endicott went ahead for good with 32 seconds left in the opening period. The Gulls led 14-0 at half and broke the game open in the final 30 minutes of action.

Mark Killinger paced the Endicott ground attack with 52 yards on 18 carries while Alex Smith (4-12-0-28 yards) and Vinny Orlando (3-3-0-98 yards) split the quarterback duties. Ryan McClean led the Endicott receiving corps with four catches for 28 yards. The Gulls churned out 239 yards on the ground compared to the Bucs total offense of 104. EC also controlled the football for almost 15 minutes more than the hosts.

MMA was penalized 10 times for 100 yards and turned the ball over three times on two interceptions and a lost fumble. Mike Baklik picked off two passes for the Gulls, who will look to stay on track next Saturday when they host Salve Regina University.
