Kayak Citification Requirements
1 - PFD usage: The applicant has to show that they understand the proper way to put on a PFD.
2 - Strait line paddling: The applicant has to demonstrate that they can travel in a strait line without using paddle drag.
3 - Turns and maneuvering: The applicant must show that they can make both a gradual turn and a rapid turn to the right and left (360 degree turns).
4 - Reverse: The applicant has to show that they can consistently travel backwards (this is necessary if the kayaker does not have enough time or space to conduct a turn).
5 - Man overboard: In this application, the applicant has to get into the water (deep enough so that the bottom can not be touched) and the applicant has to be able to get back onto their boat.
6 - Maritime laws/rules: The applicant has to explain the rules in regards to other boats when underway. Also the safe harbor rules for kayakers (low tide usage).
7 - Checking out and closing out: The applicant has to explain the possess by witch the kayaks are checked out. The applicant then has to explain and or demonstrate proper cleaning and storage of the boats.
