Beverly, MA-- Endicott held its bi-annual Athletics Award Banquet on Friday, May 6th. Athletes from the winter and spring sports teams were recognized for their accomplishments this year. Varsity letters, jackets and blankets were awarded to the athletes for their hard work, dedication and commitment. This year proved to be yet another very successful year for Endicott Athletics. Five sports teams won their respective conference title this year. Women's soccer, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball and men's lacrosse all claimed the honor of being the 2004-05 Commonwealth Coast Conference Champions.
One player from each team was awarded the Coaches Award for demonstrating qualities of leadership, unselfishness, integrity and intensity. This year's Coaches Awards recipients were: Erica Spencer (cross country), Bill Shemansky (cross country), Lisa Cote (field hockey), Jon McBride (football), Nick Turczak (golf), Daniel Duvernoy (men's soccer), Staci Wiencko (women's soccer), Stephanie Branch (women's tennis), The Senior Class - Katie Lorinovich, Susan Teta, Krystan Sylva, Morgan Tranquist & Kristen Altieri (women's volleyball), Chrissy Callahan (women's basketball), Josh Oxton (men's basketball), Eric Hunter (men's volleyball), Mark Vaughan (baseball), Liz Duboc (equestrian), Erica Harrington (women's lacrosse), Josh Maciorowski (men's lacrosse), Megan Young (softball), Ben Bettez (men's tennis), Keri Hebert (cheerleader), Caity Mooradian (dance), Joe Dudek & Adam Partaledis (ice hockey).

Morgan Tranquist was honored as Endicott's 2005 Senior Scholar Athlete for her outstanding achievements both academically and athletically. Tranquist, who finished her collegiate academic career with a 3.66 grade point average, was also recognized by the conference as the Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her achievements on the volleyball court. The senior helped her team to their first ever Commonwealth Coast Conference Title as a Second Team All-Conference pick. Tranquist, an opposite for the 29-7 Gulls, also participated in the New England Women's Volleyball Association Senior Classic.
In addition to student awards, three of Endicott's coaches also received individual honors. After leading his team to their first ever Commonwealth Coast Conference Title, women's volleyball coach Tim Byram was named CCC Coach of the Year. In his fifth year at Endicott, Coach Byram led the Gulls to a perfect 9-0 season in the CCC and a 29-7 overall record. As a result of their championship, the Gulls earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, a first for the program.
In only her second year at the helm, EC women's basketball coach Jennifer Lucey was also named CCC Coach of the Year. Coach Lucey led the 18-10 Gulls to their most successful season ever. The team had a record setting year, winning the CCC regular season title for the first time ever and breaking school records set for: most wins in a row (14), most wins in a season (18), most games played in a season (28), and farthest advanced in post-season play (ECAC bid). The Gulls hosted their first playoff game in the program's history and made their first ever appearance in the CCC semifinal round.

The special night concluded with the announcement of the All-Endicott Team. Six student-athletes were singled out for their superior athletic achievements and outstanding team contributions during their season. Matt Bishop, Matt George, Kevin Lally, Megan Piermarini, Robyn Savitske and Leah Walters are the six members of this year's All-Endicott Team.
Matt Bishop earned First Team All-CCC honors as a designated hitter for the baseball team. Bishop batted .368 with good power numbers. Of his 42 hits, 19 were for extra bases including seven home runs. He led the league in total bases with 78 and was second with a .729 slugging percentage. As a pitcher, Bishop went 4-0 and was fourth in the conference with a 2.70 ERA.

Matt George, a member of the men's basketball team, started in every game, averaging 13 points a game for the season. He totaled a .597 field goal percentage, and a .493 three-point percentage. The junior also shot 53-for-63 from the free throw line for the season. A First Team All-Conference pick, George helped guide the Gulls to their second consecutive CCC Championship Title.
Kevin Lally, a junior on the men's lacrosse team, merited the CCC Offensive Player of the Year honor. This season he led the conference and the NCAA Division III in points per game (6.29) and assists per game (4.93). Lally was a huge factor for the Gulls success, helping the team win the CCC Title for the second year in a row.
Megan Piermarini had an outstanding year as a member of the equestrian team. The junior was the first EC rider ever to qualify for the National Championship Horse Show. Piermarini advanced to Nationals (held in Delaware, OH) by winning her Novice Fences class at Regionals and by winning her class at the Zone Championship. She missed a ribbon at Nationals by a marginal ½ point.

Robyn Savitske stood out on the mound this year, earning CCC Pitcher of the Year honors and First Team All-CCC honors. The sophomore posted a 23-1 record. In 175.1 innings pitched, Savitske's ERA was just 0.72. She struck out 199 batters and pitched two no hitters throughout the season. Savitske had six saves on the year. She also merited an at large NCAA Second Team All-American honor and was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA) First Team All New England.
Leah Walters, a co-captain of the women's soccer team, was named CCC Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Walters led the Gulls in goals with 13. She helped EC win their second consecutive CCC Championship Title and host their second NCAA game in as many years. In addition to her Player of the Year honor, Walters collected four other awards, including: First Team All-CCC, Second Team All-New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA), Second Team All-New England, and an appearance in the NEWISA Senior Bowl.
