Women’s Cross Country Tops Gordon In Dual Meet

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott women's cross country team defeated host Gordon College in "The Battle of the North Shore" on Saturday morning by a score of 17-44.

The Gulls were able to sweep the top three spots as Emma Farrington (Essex Junction, Vt.) led the way covering the 5-kilometer course in a winning time of 19:56. The next two spots after Farrington featured Aleah MacKay (Bedford, N.H.) and Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) who posted times of 19:56.8 and 20:02.7, respectively.

Endicott also saw Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.), Laura Pomeroy (Windham, N.H.), Sophia Conde (Bedford, Mass.) and Hannah Mason (Deerfield, N.H.) all finish inside the top-10. Keim came in fifth (20:55.3), while Pomeroy was sixth (21:04.2) and Conde ranked seventh (21:05.7). Mason rounded out the group at 10th overall (21:24.0).

"I was very happy with how they executed the race.  It was important to see them running in packs and progressing throughout," said Endicott women's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "We are focused on training right now so it's good to see them open things up against competition to motivate them through the next few months.  We still have a lot of work to do but they earned their victories today."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Gulls were able to secure their first-ever "Battle of the North Shore" win today (1-1 in the all-time series).
  • Endicott saw 10 runners finish inside the top-15 against Gordon.
  • Emma Johnson (Reading Mass.) crossed the finish line in 11th place (21:31.7), Haley Marek (Westhampton, Mass.) placed 12th overall (21:41.4) and Lily Gillis (Marblehead, Mass.) was 15th overall (22:40.4) to conclude the highlights for the Gulls.

The Gulls will host the Endicott Invitational in Essex County, Mass. at Bradley Palmer State Park on September 8 at 11:00 AM.
