Haynes and Boyle Named All-CCC as Gulls Finish Fourth at CCC Championship

BIDDEFORD, Maine- Freshman Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) was named as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Year after he finished in third place out of 98 runners at the CCC Championships on Saturday.  Mondello led the men to a sixth place finish.  Junior Erin Haynes (Oakham, Mass.) led the women's team as she finished second out of 122 runners on the women's side to lead the team to a fourth place finish.

Said head coach Nick Radkewich, "Both Erin and Noah ran the strategy we planned and it worked. Noah's race was one of the most exciting I have seen. Back and forth among those top three. Erin ran a solid race from start to finish and truly competed against a returning NCAA qualifier from last year.  Exciting performance from Lauren Boyle finishing 9th and make the All CCC team, the second for the team on the year."

Haynes and Lauren Boyle were both named to the All-CCC team as Haynes finished second and Boyle finished ninth on the 6k course.  Haynes crossed in a time of 24:17.3 and in second place.  Her second place finish comes on the heels of her first place finish in the last race, and gives her five top six finishes on the season.  Boyle, whose previous high was 18th, crossed the finish in a time of 25:32.9, just three minutes off her best 5k time.

Jillian Mendes (Waterbury Center, Vt.) finished third for the Gulls and 34th overall with a time of 27:29.2.  Rounding out the scoring for the Gulls were Holly Rigoli (Waltham, Mass.) and Shelby Woodworth (Hutchinson, Minn.).  Both women finished in the top 50 as Rigoli finished 43rd while Woodworth finished 45th.  With their points, Endicott finished fourth, the best team finish since 2008 when the team finished third.

For the men, Mondello, who has now finished as the top men's runner in every race he has competed in, was also named to the All-CCC team as he registered his second top five finish of the year and best finish of his career as he finished third in a time of 26:41.2, just 16 seconds off the first place time of 26:25.5 on the 8k course.

Also finishing in his best time and place of the season was Alex Walecka (Dartmouth, Mass.) who crossed in 32nd with a time of 29:07.8.  Continuing the theme for the Gulls was Mitchell Renfrew (Barkhamsted, Conn.) who finished in 46th place with a time of 29:49.5.  The 46th was the best finish of his season.  James Dooley finished in 82nd 33:09.6 while Dylan Schaefer rounded out the Gulls times as he crossed in 34:43.2.  The team logged a score of 152, just 16 points out of a top five finish.
