BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Endicott men's and women's cross country teams both recorded team scores at the UNE Invitational on Saturday with the women's team coming in 4th out of 11 teams and the men turning in one of their best performances in recent years, a 9th place effort out of 13 teams.

In the women's race, Gulls junior Erin Haynes (Oakham, Mass.) battled three other CCC runners down the stretch and settled in at fourth place overall with a time of 19:30, an average of 6:16 per mile.  Junior Jocelyn Kane (East Longmeadow, Mass.) came in 27th overall at 21:24 followed by Jillian Mendes at 21:54 and 36th overall.  Sophomores Holly Rigoli (Waltham, Mass.) and Grace Brigham (Montpelier, Vt.) rounded out the top five scoring at 22:29 and 23:11.  Junior Shelby Woodworth (Hutchinson, Minn.) finished just outside the top, two places behind Brigham at 23:16. 

CCC foe Salve Regina took the overall women's race with UNE, Southern Maine, Endicott, and Gordon trailing. 

In the men's race, freshman Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) came in fifth place out of 123 runners with an overall time of 26:59 and an average of 5:26 per mile to lead the Gulls.  Junior Alex Walecka (North Dartmouth, Mass.) came in 41st place at 29:42 followed by Mitchell Renfrew (Barkhamsted, Conn.) at 31:07, James Dooley at 35:02, and Ian Kaeding at 36:31. 

The Gulls bested St. Joseph's, UMaine-Presque Isle, Nichols, and UMaine-Machias in the team scoring.  Lyndon State won the race overall, beating out CCC programs UNE, Salve Regina, Gordon, and Roger Williams.

Endicott will compete locally next Saturday at the Pop Crowell Invitational held at Gordon College.  The race begins at 10:45 am for the women and 11:30 am for the men.
