NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott women's soccer team traveled to Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon for a conference matchup. Five different Gulls score in the contest as they shutout the Seahawks 5-0. Endicott now stands at 8-5-1, (3-1-0 CCC) while Salve falls to 2-10-1, (0-5-0 CCC).

The first half was controlled by the Blue and Green as they outshot the Seahawks 6-1. Senior Madison Missinne (Rindgefield, Conn.) got the Gulls on the board early just under four minutes into the contest after she beat the Salve defense and went one on one with senior goalkeeper Jacueline McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) and was able to slip it past to take the early 1-0 lead.

Endicott kept the Seahawks on their toes throughout the frame as they held strong in the final third. Sophomore Audrey Parolin (Cumberland, Maine) had an opportunity to bring the lead to two when she blasted a shot at goal but McPherson was able to make the save to keep Salve in the game. 10 minutes later freshman Mackenzie Gaudet (Concord, N.H.) contested McPherson but was unable to find the back of the net as she came up with the save.

Goalkeeper Katie Donelly (Madison, Conn.) and her defensive unit worked hard to keep the Seahawks out of dangerous territory, and they succeeded as they entered halftime but not allowing a single shot on goal in the frame.

The second half started similar to the first as Endicott got a second early tally. Freshman Jessica Joseph (Bedford, N.H.) scored just under five minutes into the frame after Missinne got a touch on the ball and found Joseph as she was able to sneak past the defensive line and blasted it into the back of the net to give the Gulls the 2-0 lead. The Blue and Green were aggressive on the offensive end taking 13 shots in the frame and holding the Seahawks to three.

In the final 17 minutes of the game Endicott went on a scoring spree and really kept the Seahawks defense busy. At 73:05 Gaudet started the rally as she controlled a feed from sophomore Paige Marinelli (Burlington, Conn.) off a corner kick and was able to head it past McPherson to increase the lead to three.

13 minutes later senior co-captain Lexi Dussi (Boxford, Mass.) increased the lead to four as she blasted the ball into the back of the net after beating a couple defenders to score her first goal of her senior year. The four goals were not enough for the Blue and Green as they were hungry for one more. In the final 16 seconds of the game Marinelli tallied the fifth and final goal of the game as she controlled a free kick from sophomore Stacy Tomilson (Morrisville, Vt.) and lifted the ball over the head of McPhearson.

Overall the win was a team effort from all aspects of the field. Donnely made two saves in the contest while her counterpart made eight. The Gulls were pleased with the win and the way they came together as a team after a tough loss to Tufts earlier in the week.

Endicott will look forward to Tuesday, October 15th where they host conference opponent Eastern Nazarene at 4:30 p.m. Salve Regina will pick back up on Monday as they host UMass. Boston in a regional matchup for a 3:30 p.m. start.
