Women’s Lacrosse Tops Coast Guard In Season Opener, 16-4

NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated Coast Guard, 16-4, on Sunday evening in non-conference action at Cadet Memorial Field.

Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.) led all scorers with a career-high four goals on four shots.

Morgan Pike (Shapleigh, Maine) also registered a hat trick, Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) compiled four points (2G, 2A), and Katie Wagner (Brewster, N.Y.) set up seven goals to highlight the rest of the attack.

Defensively, Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) notched nine draw controls, six ground balls, and six caused turnovers (all game-highs).

Meanwhile, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) stopped eight shots to record her second career win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's game was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Endicott is 3-2 in its last five season openers.
  • The Gulls went on 8-0 run to begin the game before Coast Guard broke up the offensive outburst with three seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Endicott (1-0) hosts MIT on Tuesday, March 8 at 4 PM. Coast Guard (1-1) visits Vassar on Friday, March 4 at 1 PM.
