Softball Splits Against Ramapo & North Park

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Endicott softball team split a pair of games against Ramapo (5-6) and North Park (6-5) on Thursday evening at Hancock Park (Field 1).

GAME ONE: Ramapo 6, Endicott 5

WP (1-0): Sara Cappetti (Burlington Township, N.J.) — 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 K
LP (2-2): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 5 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 6 K

Tied 5-5 with one out in the top of the sixth, the Roadrunners worked a bases loaded walk to drive in the eventual game-winning run.

Carly Marchitto (Orange, Conn.) was a difference-maker for the Gulls despite the loss as the senior first baseman blasted a three-run homer to left-center in the second (3-2 lead) and plated another run with a single up the middle in the fifth (5-4 deficit).

Paige Berdos (Plainville, Mass.) also tied up the game in the fifth with an RBI single down the left field line.

Marchitto finished the contest going 2-for-4 with one run scored and four RBI, while Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) went 3-for-4 to highlight Endicott offensively.

GAME TWO: Endicott 6, North Park 5

WP (1-1): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 7 K
LP (2-2): Alyssa Malicki (Norridge, Ill.) — 6 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
SV (1): Hanchuk — 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

The Gulls scored four runs through the first three innings of play behind an RBI double from Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) and a two-run homer by Taylor Chelak (Westborough, Mass.) in the first, and a solo homer in the third via Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.)

Endicott also tacked on two runs in the fifth thanks to a fielding error to make it 6-1. Those runs proved to be the difference in the victory.

  • Chelak launched her first collegiate home run.
  • Comtois sent her fifth career homer over the fence in game two.
  • Riley Gamache (Litchfield, N.H.) notched her first collegiate hit — a single to second base — against North Park.
