Eastern Nazarene Edges Men’s Volleyball In Five Sets

QUINCY, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team lost to Eastern Nazarene, 3-2, on Thursday night by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, and 12-15 in conference action at the Lahue Athletic Center.

Eastern Nazarene pushed its winning streak to three straight matches with tonight's victory, which includes triumphs over Bard (3-0, 3/23) and No. 7 Springfield (3-2, 3/27). 

Dean Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) paced the Gulls with a career-high-tying 16 kills (.265), four service aces, six digs, and seven block assists. 

Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) also notched 15 kills, three service aces, and six digs, while Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) contributed 13 kills, four digs, and a block assist.

Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) facilitated the offense with 44 assists.

Logan Pohl (Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the list of highlights with four kills, two digs, and seven blocks (one solo).

Tonight's match featured 32 ties (5-10-9-5-3) and 15 lead changes (4-3-6-1-1).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Eastern Nazarene claimed its first-ever win over Endicott (10-1 all-time).
  • In set five, the Gulls led 8-3 at the exchange, but the Lions used a 7-2 run to knot the score at 10-10 and later broke an 11-11 tie for the eventual victory.
  • Pohl registered career-highs for block assists (6) and total blocks (7).
  • Eastern Nazarene is 10-1 at home this season (L, MIT, 3-0, 2/8).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-11, 4-2 NEVC) hosts SUNY Poly on Saturday, April 6 at 3 PM. This weekend's match will serve as Senior Day for the program. Eastern Nazarene (15-6, 5-1 NEVC) welcomes Vermont State Johnson to its campus this Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 PM.
