Men’s Volleyball Drops Two Against No. 6 Vassar & MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to No. 6 Vassar (3-0) and MIT (3-1) on Saturday evening at the Rockwell Cage.

NO. 6 VASSAR 3, ENDICOTT 0 (17-25, 21-25, 15-25)

Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) tied for the match-high in kills with nine (.261).

Dean Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) added five putaways to the attack, while Mason Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) had four kills on seven swings (.286) and three block assists (tied team-high).

Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) facilitated the majority of the offense with 15 assists.

Defensively, Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) notched a team-high eight digs and Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) went 22-for-23 on serve receive (three digs).

Match one of the day featured nine ties (4-2-3) and two lead changes (0-1-1).


MIT 3, ENDICOTT 0 (20-25, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25)

Iacovelli (15K, .312), Warner (14K, .407), and M. Mallory (10K, .292) all posted double-digit kills in the nightcap.

M. Mallory also registered a perfect 27-for-27 line on serve receive, amounting to six digs.

Emenaker once again ran the attack, this time dishing out 32 assists (.485) to go along with a team-high eight digs.

Adin Jepsky (San Jose, Calif.) added four digs and a 30-for-33 (.909) line on serve receive, while Logan Pohl (Longmeadow, Mass.) compiled four kills (.300) and five block assists to conclude the individual highlights for the Gulls.

The match featured 32 ties (1-14-15-2) and nine lead changes (0-4-4-1).


BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • No. 6 Vassar defeated MIT earlier in the day, 3-2.
  • M. Mallory had a season-high 10 kills in match two.
  • He also went 30-for-30 on serve receive between the pair of matches.
