Chadwick's Career-high Seven Kills Leads Endicott to Win in Home Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball celebrated their home opener with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-15) victory over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Regis on Tuesday evening as the Gulls saw their middles combined for a  .760 (20-1-25) hitting percentage and senior right side Brandon Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.) strike a career-high seven kills in the win.

Also playing in their NECC opener, the Gulls (3-2, 1-0 NECC) improved to 9-0 all-time versus Regis (5-4, 1-2 NECC) who had come into the match having won five in-a-row. Endicott looks ahead to a Saturday tri-match with Emerson and Vassar held in Emerson's Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym in Boston.  The Gulls face Emerson (4-4, 0-1 GNAC) at 12:00 pm followed by Vassar (2-5, 1-3 UVC) at 2:00 pm. The Pride host Anna Maria on Friday night at 6:00 pm.

Chadwick's seven kills came on 12 attempts with just one error for a .500 hitting percentage. The senior also served up two of Endicott's five aces with a dig and an assist. Endicott's kill leader in this match also came from the outside as sophomore outside hitter John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) totaled nine kills and contributed defensively with four digs.

It was Endicott's presence in the middle that was dominant in this match as senior captain Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.), sophomores Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) and Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.), and freshman Ryan Sutherland (Fairport, N.Y.) all factored into a .760 hitting percentage at their position. Coniglione led the charge with eight errorless swings for a .727 clip while both Wasik and Toth both totaled five kills apiece. Sutherland converted both of his attempts for kills as well. Both Coniglione and Toth were a presence defensively at the net with two block assists. 

For Regis, sophomore middle blocker Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) and freshman outside Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.), the reigning NECC Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, were strong with six kills each. Coye was efficient, getting his six kills on eight swings for a .625 hitting percentage while Bisnett hit .192 from the outside. The Pride as a team, however, hit just .069 in the loss.

Endicott's setters combined for 40 assists with senior captain Carter Roche (Clifton, N.Y.) pacing the offense through two sets with 23 assists. Sophomore Tyler Bacon (Cypress, Calif.) came on in the third set to dish out another 11 assists. Regis freshman setter Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) amassed 18 assists with the majority of his kills going to Coye, Bisnett, and freshman Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) who had a team-high seven.

Gulls senior libero Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) registered a match-high nine digs with junior Kristian Catalan (Sudbury, Mass.), Osborne, and Roche all adding four digs apiece. Hanrahan had a team-high six kills for the Pride with Bisnett adding five.
