On the Gulls first west coast swing, they dropped their opener to host UCSC 0-3(19-30, 27-30, 24-30). After getting off to a slow start, the Gulls rallied behind the defensive efforts of Craig Steszewski and the offense of Jeremy Fontaine.
The offensive attack was led by Fontaine's 22 kills with Mike Coflesky and Eddie Marchand also combining for 11 kills and 2 aces. On defense, Pablo Baez combined with Fontaine to account for 4 assists blocks.
The Gulls are now headed down the coast to the LA area where they will return to action tomorrow night at the fourth-ranked U. of LaVerne in a 7 PM match.
