Endicott defeated Johnson & Wales University 3-0 (30-22, 30-18, 30-24), to advance their overall record to 11-7 and their conference record to 11-2. Senior setter Pablo Baez ran Endicott's efficient offense.
Baez tallied 42 assists in the match and got a team leading 12 kills from the arm of Jeremy Fontaine. Fontaine can also be credited with disrupting the Johnson & Wales serve receive with tough serving that led to four aces.
Freshman Eddie Marchand continued to perform for the Gulls, hitting .300% (11k-5e/20att). On defense, libero Craig Steszewski and Fontaine each dug eight of the JWU attacks. Brandon Ecker and Russ Friedland also had good defense at the net with one solo and one assist block each.
NECVA-NE Player-of-the-Week, James Collins led the Wildcat attack with 15 kills in 35 attempts. Connecticut sophomore David Santos had setting duty for JWU and collected 21 assists. Brandon Blanchet led defensively with six digs and one block.
Endicott's next match will be Tuesday, March 2 at 6:00 PM at Mt. Ida College.
