Men’s Tennis Comes Up Short Versus Goucher, 7-2

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team concluded its 2017 spring break trip with a 7-2 loss to Goucher College on Thursday afternoon at the Evian Tennis Center.

Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Justin Toler (Concord, Mass.) picked up the Gulls' lone victory in doubles play with an 8-1 triumph over Jack Hodges (London, England) and Midori Fujitani (Tokyo, Japan).

In singles action, Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) highlighted Endicott's play with 6-4, 6-3 win against Frankie Mullinix (Washington, D.C.).

The Gophers took the No. 2 (8-4) and No. 3 doubles (8-1) flights, and the No. 1 (6-4, 6-3), No. 2 (6-4, 6-1), No. 4 (6-1, 6-2), No. 5 (6-1, 6-0), and No. 6 (6-2, 6-3) singles draws. Goucher clinched the match with Slade Dumas' (Great Falls, Va.) No. 5 singles victory over Jack DeRizzo (Sarasota Springs, N.Y.).

"We came up against a worthy adversary today and had some opportunities that we left out there," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "Overall, it was a solid week for us and we feel ready for the start of conference play once we get back home."
