Men’s Tennis Downs Wheaton (Mass.), 8-1

NORTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team handed Wheaton (Mass.) an 8-1 loss on Wednesday evening at the Clark Tennis Courts.

Charles Book (Devon, Pa.), Jack DeRizzo (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.), and Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) were all double-winners for the Gulls on the evening.

"We played great tennis up and down the entire lineup today," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "The freshmen were dominant in the middle of the singles lineup and we also saw some great comebacks at the top two spots in the lineup as well."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Pierce and Book earned an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles and also earned wins at No. 2 (2-6, 6-4, 10-8) and No. 4 (6-2, 6-1) singles, respectively.
  • Book is currently undefeated in singles play (2-0) during his freshman campaign.
  • DeRizzo and Eherts completed an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, and also notched victories at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) and No. 6 (6-2, 6-0) singles, respectively.
  • Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) claimed a 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 come-from-behind win at No. 1 singles, while Justin Toler (Concord, Mass.) rounded out the list of winners at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph.

Endicott (2-0) returns to action on Friday at home against Southern Maine at 3 p.m. Wheaton (0-1) returns to action on Saturday, February 25 at home versus UMass Dartmouth at 3 p.m.
