ORLANDO, Fla. – The Hastings College men’s tennis team opened the afternoon by taking the No. 2 and 3 doubles contests and went on to hold off a late Endicott charge, securing a 5-4 victory on Sunday afternoon during a Spring Break contest in Orlando, Florida. The Broncos improve their mark to 1-1 on the trip while the Gulls slip to the same record.

Senior \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.) and junior \#Devon Locke\# (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) got the Gulls started with an 8-4 win over Tyler Benson (Kearney, Neb.) and Brian Freeman (Wheat Ridge, Colo.). The Broncos’ Vinny Banda and Christopher Ondrey (Rosenberg, Texas) countered with an 8-5 win over \#Mike D’Ambra\# (Barrington, R.I.) and \#Oliver Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.). Hastings’ Andrew Huber (North Platte, Neb.) and Grant Nagaki (Scottsbluff, Neb.) closed out the team play with an 8-0 sweep of \#Scott Kitchen (Norwell, Mass.) and \#Justin Nguyen\# (Shelton, Conn.).

Murray handled Benson in top singles action, 7-5 and 6-3. After a 6-1, 6-2 Banda win over Locke, Ondrey defeated D’Ambra, 6-4 and 6-1. \#Oliver Joggi\# kept the Gulls alive with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Brian Freeman (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) while \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) took down Grant Nagaki (Scottsbluff, Neb.), 6-3, 6-4. Andrew Huber finished off Kitchen with a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 6 singles.

Endicott returns to action on Monday when the Gulls face Illinois Wesleyan University and LeTourneau University in a pair of matches.
