Men's Soccer Sees Four on All-CCC Selections

2014 All-CCC Men's Soccer Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Commissioner's Office announced the 2014 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams on Friday afternoon and Endicott saw four players receive recognition from coaches in the league. The last time the men's program saw four players honored by the conference was back in 2004.

Following a regular season that ended with the Gulls as the #4 seed of the upcoming CCC tournament with a 9-6-3 (4-2-3 CCC) record, the Gulls saw two members earn First Team honors, one with Second Team Honors and one with an Honorable Mention nod. The four honorees and the rest of the Blue and Green squad will take the field on Saturday, November 1st as they host #5 Salve Regina (7-9-1, 4-4-1 CCC) in the Quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament.

Receiving First Team honors were juniors Diego Slobotzky (Mexico City, Mexico) and Kyle Bisceglia (New Boston, N.H.). Slobotzky is the current team leader in goals (8), assists (5) and points (21). The striker has consistently contributed to the Gulls push in the final third with his two game winning goals while adding points in nine of his 16 games played this season. The junior wrapped up the regular season as second in the CCC in points and tied for second in goals. Bisceglia has been a huge contributor to the Gulls defensive unit and their success this season. The defender is incredibly versatile as he not only contributes on the defensive end but on the offensive end as well. The junior has netted two goals and three assists this season on the attack while helping secure a defensive unit that has allowed just 15 goals this season.

Earning Second Team honors is freshman Conner Couchot (Mason, Ohio) who has played almost every minute for the Gulls this season as a key midfielder. The rookie has consistently given the Blue and Green an offense a push in the final third with his play-making abilities in the midfield. Couchot wrapped up the regular season of his rookie campaign with three points while helping anchor an offensive unit that is third in the conference in shots and fifth in goals.

Rounding out the awards is senior Alex Jorge (Billerica, Mass.) who has been stealthy between the pipes for the Gulls this season. After spending most of his career as a striker, this season Jorge moved back to his original home, in goal. The senior led one of the most successful defensive units in program history allowing the fewest goals in a regular season (15) while holding the programs best figures in save percentage (.842) and goals against average (.79). Jorge wrapped up his senior year playing 1,701:30 minutes, allowing just 15 goals while compiling six shutouts.

The men's program will look ahead to Saturday where they look to achieve the programs first quarterfinal victory since 2005. The Blue and Green last faced Salve Regina back on October 18th where a first half goal by Couchot lifted the Gulls to a 1-0 victory.
