2016 MLL COLLEGIATE DRAFT RESULTS
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior goalie Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) has been selected No. 67 overall (Rd. 8) by the Boston Cannons in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft. The pick was announced at the U.S. National Lacrosse Convention at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland.
Bell, who was recently tabbed as an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, produced a 16-4 record, a 9.56 goals against average (GAA) and a .560 save percentage last season for the Gulls. Bell also stopped a career-high 209 shots in the cage to aid Endicott to its eighth Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title and ninth appearance into the NCAA Tournament in program history.
Bell will enter his senior season this year with 43 career wins, which sits five shy of tying former three-time USILA All-American and current Endicott head coach Eric Hagarty '10 for the program's all-time record.
The Gulls' 2016 schedule will feature seven teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season including Tufts University, the two-time defending national champion, and Lynchburg who lost to the Jumbos in the title game. Six of those seven teams on the schedule that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago are also ranked inside the top-15 in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason rankings – Tufts (1), Lynchburg (2), Amherst (3), Bates (7), Middlebury (10), and Union (15). Springfield, the only NCAA Tournament team not ranked on the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Rankings, has won its conference championship eight years in a row.
Once Endicott's 2016 season concludes, Bell and Hagarty will join Harrison Cotter '15 (Lordship, Conn.) on the 2016 Boston Cannons roster as both Cotter and Hagarty were selected in the MLL Supplemental Draft in December.
ENDICOTT CONNECTION
In 2016, Bell, Cotter, and Hagarty will play under former Endicott head coach Sean Quirk with the Cannons this spring. Quirk, who took over as head coach of the Cannons on October 8, 2015, compiled a 243-97 (.715) record in 18 seasons at Endicott. Concurrently, Hagarty begins his first year as head coach of the Endicott men's lacrosse program after taking over for Quirk on June 2, 2015.
